Safety Risks

How Lithos Prevents and Mitigates These Risks
Fire, thermal runaway, thermal propagation, short circuit. Thermal runaway, single cell reaches high enough temp to cause combustion, can be caused by manufacturing defects in cell production, physical damage to the cell, electric abuse of the cell.

Prevention

BMS constantly monitoring state of the cell, can actively intervene to stop cell abuse, prevents overcharging, overcurrent, use in extreme temperature.

Prevent manufacturing defects with advanced quality and process controls, screening 100% of incoming cell in partnership with Tier 1 cell vendors to eliminate defective cells on receive at Lithos.

Mitigation

Passively propagation resistant, if a single cell goes into thermal runaway, adjacent cells do not, ensuring thermal events is stopped at the single cell level.

Flame retardant materials integrated at module and pack level.

Electrical Protection

No exposed high voltage when pack not in operation because of contactors.

Short circuit - contactors to prevent short, pack level fuse, individual fused cells. Arc flash - contactors make sure it doesnt happen and fuse stop it.

Our packs are designed from the ground up for safety and reliability. We don't take shortcuts and we build all of our packs using rigorous protocols that create consistent, safe and reliable battery systems.
